Involvement and Consultation Code of Practice

The voluntary and community sector is a vital part of civil society and Government wants to work more effectively with it. Consultation is an important part of partnership working and listening to and engaging with the sector effectively will lead to better planning and delivery of services.  Consultation is an opportunity for the sector to input their knowledge, experience and expertise to add value to Government policy.

It is important that we take the basis of the national Codes of Practice and localise them to Sunderland. To do this a Policy Appraisal and Consultation Code of Practice working group has been established. The group will produce the draft text for the Code of Practice documents and also the draft action plans for implementing the Codes. Lee Cranston from Sunderland City Council and Ailsa Martin of the Sunderland Carers Centre are leading on this Code of Practice working group.

This document is the latest version under development. Further updated versions and the action plan will be posted on this page in due course
