Why a S.C.N?
What is Sunderland Community Network?
SCN is a network of voluntary and community groups
operating within the City of Sunderland.
Who can be involved?
The Community network is open to any community, voluntary or residents group whatever its size. This can range from the smallest
playgroup to the largest registered charity.
What does SCN do?
The SCN was established in 2001 and was relaunched in April 2007, its aim is to engage with the Community and Voluntary
sector and to enable local groups to link together, support each other
and take part as equals on the Sunderland
Partnership (SP).
Any member of the SCN is entitled to express an interest to become
a delegate for the network at any level of the SP so long as they are signed up as a full membe of the SCN. This can be
either at Strategic level (Board or management group) or across the 8 themews acrsoss the partnership.
Why
should my group/organisation join the SCN?
Members will receive
support from the network officers and regular bulletins and newsletters
about issues affecting the community and voluntary sector in Sunderland. Most importantly members are part of a network which has real influence
over the provision of services and initiatives through meaningful
involvement in the City’s decision making process.
If your group or organisation isn’t yet a member of the network
then think about it! You don’t have to do anything except
register. Take a look at the rest of the website and if you have
information that you would like to share about service provision
or opportunities that would benefit the rest of the sector you can
do so by simply emailing the information to info@sunderlandcommunitynetwork.org.uk
