The Cultural Partnership is responsible for delivering the targets, actions and outcomes outlined in the Extending Cultural Opportunities chapter of the Sunderland Strategy. It develops and promotes the city’s culture, its people and its places, promoting Sunderland in a way that will benefit all people locally and regionally.
Chris Alexander is the Lead to the Cultural Partnership. Chris attended a Delegates Meet and Greet on 24th August and you can find his presentation below. Contact Chris at Chris.Alexander@edcom.sunderland.gov.uk

Pat Burn

I have been Hon. Secretary for Sunderland Community Matters (former Sunderland Federation of Community Matters) for twenty years and have served as an officer and committee member of other voluntary organisations. I am also involved in disability issues in a family, organisation and general basis. I was volunteer organiser of Age Concern after-Stroke Club for 24 years. I am presently involved in voluntary community work with young people in Silksworth Community Centre, have completed IT training and updated other skills. I have been involved with the Community Network throughout its development and believe that it is the way forward for voluntary organisations and hope to see the establishment and progress of the City Partnership. I accept that I am representing members of the Network and would like to be involved in the improvement of communication – I am always willing to learn!
My interests include music, art and heritage and I enjoy participating in the future planning of, and the extending of the City's cultural provision as a Network delegate.

My name is Janette Hilton, I am Project Director of Living History (North
East) Limited.
I have been employed by the charity for the last 2 years; prior to that I was the Project Manager in a voluntary capacity for 10 years. In this role I have overseen the establishment of the North East's regional Oral History Centre and New Community Resource Facility in the East End of Sunderland. I am currently the regional representative for the National Oral History Network; and I am one of the four panel members responsible for the North East Oral History Network
I have a long term interest in culture and heritage and was involved as a founding member in establishing the Sunderland Heritage Forum. I am also a newly appointed Director for the Tyne and Wear Archive Development Trust.
My interest as a delegate for the network is to promote and improve the regional representation of Sunderland. I believe the population of Sunderland are proud of their heritage and culture and that their representation should have a more focused approach through beauractratic corridors of power. |
