I have been involved in community development work since the 1970’s, originally in Washington New Town then working for the TACT project at East Community Association in the East End and Hendon. Since 1994 I have worked at Sunderland Carers’ Centre. At the Carers’ Centre I have a particular interest in helping carers have a voice in local, regional and national policy. I enjoy working for a VCS board of directors who are passionate about the Centre and who are almost all carers themselves. I believe that one of the great strengths of the VCS is our ability to work in partnership – even if we do have the occasional squabble!
